Pharmacy Technician Training Program

UEI College’s Pharmacy Technician Program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on training needed for a career as an entry-level pharmacy technician.

The program teaches students dosages and solution preparations, medication preparation in sterile and non-sterile environments. The program does so by teaching students how to enter patient and prescription information into a system, prepare the medications, and dispense them.

UEI’s Pharmacy Technician Training Program prepares students for a rewarding pharmacy technician career in pharmacies, hospitals, retail stores, mail orders, and long-term care facilities.

The great thing about UEI’s program is that it can be completed, and students can earn their diploma in as few as 10 months, placing them on the fast track to becoming entry-level pharmacy technicians.

UEI College’s Pharmacy Tech Program provides graduates with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on training they need when seeking an entry-level career. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of pharmaceutical care and pharmacy technology. The program also teaches students how to perform pharmaceutical calculations, enabling them to dispense drugs in the appropriate doses.

Additionally, the program teaches students about both retail pharmacies and hospital pharmacies, familiarizing students with both types of pharmacies. Moreover, students are taught how to handle the administrative side of pharmacies, which includes deciphering physician’s orders and processing prescriptions. Additionally, students are introduced to health insurance, allowing them to handle insurance claims in a pharmacy setting.

About This Program

UEI College’s Pharmacy Technician Program trains students in smaller, comfortable classrooms and labs that are set up to simulate the real-world environment that pharmacy technicians will work in. This allows students to practice the skills and techniques they’ve learned using real equipment, preparing them for what to expect in the real world, allowing them to become valuable team members on day one.

Moreover, the program teaches students common terms used in the industry while providing hands-on training across various pharmacy types, including retail, hospital, mail order, and long-term care pharmacies.

The great thing about the program is that students are required to complete an externship prior to graduating. The externship is usually performed with an approved local employer, allowing students to practice the skills and techniques they’ve learned in a real world setting with a potential employer.

Pharmacy technicians work side by side with pharmacists to ensure prescription drug orders are being prepared quickly and safely. Pharmacy technicians also play an important role in handling administrative tasks within a retail or hospital pharmacy.

The Pharmacy Technician Program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to work as pharmacy technicians in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting. Students will have the opportunity to practice preparing prescriptions and completing pharmacy tasks during in-person, hands-on labs.

You do not need a college degree or any college experience to enroll in UEI College's Pharmacy Technician Program. With just a high school diploma or equivalent, you can begin training for a new career in the pharmaceutical field.

The Pharmacy Technician program can be completed in as few as ten months. The program provides students with the opportunity to complete an externship working in an actual pharmacy, giving them valuable real-life experience in the field.

The classes and programs at UEI College are designed to be flexible. That’s why we offer all our programs in a hybrid format with hands-on lab time just twice a week. Depending on the demand, these in-person classes may be offered during the day or evening. All other work and lectures are completed online.

Students in this program are provided with the knowledge and skills needed for an entry-level position in a retail or hospital pharmacy.
